Why Fir
Our work is built around direct relationships, practical strategy, and clear communication—not a one-size-fits-all legal process.
Advice shaped around your goals, budget, timing, and tolerance for risk—whether the best path is litigation, negotiation, mediation, or preventive planning.
Your matter receives direct attorney involvement rather than being passed through layers of staff and junior lawyers.
Litigation, transactional, municipal, land-use, business, and advisory experience come together to solve problems holistically.
Complex issues explained in plain English, realistic expectations, straightforward billing, and responsive communication throughout the matter.

Founder - Managing Partner
Oregon roots. Hands-on experience. Practical judgment.
Ryan Adams is the founding partner of Fir Law Group, bringing over a decade of diverse legal experience to deliver practical, results-driven advocacy for individuals, families, small businesses, and rural property owners throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Raised with a strong work ethic, Ryan put himself through college and law school by pouring concrete, framing houses, and serving in the military. His hands-on background informs his no-nonsense approach to solving real-world legal challenges.
Ryan’s career includes significant public service as City Attorney for the City of Sherwood, where he led the legal department, advised on municipal operations, and handled land use, contracts, litigation, and municipal prosecutions. Earlier, as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Wilsonville, he helped the City achieve notable appellate victories before the Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA), Oregon Court of Appeals, and Oregon Supreme Court—including a landmark case against a state agency.
In private practice, Ryan has focused on representing farmers, small businesses, and property owners in civil litigation, landlord-tenant disputes, land use and real estate matters, business formation and transactions, estate planning, contract disputes, employment issues, and administrative appeals.
A dedicated member of the Oregon Army National Guard, Ryan currently serves as Deputy Regional Defense Counsel for the Western United States. He previously held the role of Command Judge Advocate for the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team, providing critical legal guidance during two overseas deployments, managing teams, and working with international partners.
Ryan is admitted to practice before the Oregon Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He formerly chaired the Oregon State Bar’s Military and Veterans Law Section and served as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Canby.
Deeply rooted in the Willamette Valley, Ryan and his wife Rainie live on their farm, where he spends his free time outdoors—working the land, repairing equipment, or hunting.
At Fir Law Group, Ryan is committed to providing clear, strategic, and client-focused representation that protects what you’ve built and helps you move forward with confidence.

Wins & In the News
Civil rights · Federal courtFir Law Group represented Mary Martin in civil-rights litigation against the State of Oregon. Ms. Martin had gathered a substantial number of signatures for a petition seeking to repeal a gas tax. After the tax was moved to the May 2026 ballot, she was unable to submit a voters’ pamphlet statement because of her financial status and disabilities.
Fir Law Group filed suit, and the federal court granted a restraining order and injunction against the Oregon Secretary of State. Ms. Martin’s argument was ultimately published in the voters’ pamphlet.
